Selah Church Network exists to plant churches that passionately aim "To see people from everyday life experience the hope of knowing Christ."
We are a new church plant in Charleston, SC that is in the process of gathering team members to serve with us as we prepare to move toward our public launch. Below are some details about who we are: VISION: To satisfy the hearts longing for hope through knowing Jesus and making him known. MISSION: To see our vision fulfilled by: -Sharing the Gospel -Serving our city -Making disciples that make disciples -And planting churches that plant churches VALUES: At Selah Church, we express our FIVE main values in declaring what “WE WILL BE”... 1) We will be GOSPEL-CENTERED We will be a church that centers all we do and who we are on the gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe that the gospel message (the good news of forgiveness and reconciliation with God himself) is the foundation for our salvation, growth, and passion to reach others. This is where our passion as a church will be centered. Jesus is our joy, and the gospel is the message about how God made it possible for us to be forgiven and have Jesus forever. In essence, there is no message greater than the gospel, and no greater answer given to the infinite longings and cravings of every human heart. 2) We will be Relationally-Oriented We believe that true community is a result of knowing Jesus. He saves sinners through his redemptive work, and places us into the community of faith by His Spirit. Because of this we want to organize and function as a church that will best allow us to live in community with each other, experiencing true, life-on-life fellowship where we can love each other, bear one another’s burdens, pray for each other, encourage one another, and experience more of Jesus together. This will happen through weekly worship services, but most-especially through gospel-community groups that will meet in homes, coffee shops, and other places outside the church meeting place during the week. 3) We Will Be Mission-Minded We believe that the gospel produces a Spirit-empowered community of saved sinners that are called to share the hope of Christ with the rest of the world around them. Because of this, we will seek to live in the world by engaging with the culture around us and seeking ways to connect, love, serve, and express the hope of Christ. We will train our people to live in their everyday lives (families, jobs, neighborhoods, an beyond) with a gospel-intentionality, living lives that show the incarnational love and hope of the gospel, and will be able to share this hope with those around them. We will find creative ways to engage the culture with a counter-cultural love for Christ, and a compassion-oriented love for the lost around us. We will seek to live counter-culturally by our love for Jesus and our love for others, as we go into the world, seek the good of the city, and pour ourselves out to make Jesus known to those around us. 4) We will be Generosity-Fueled We believe that the gospel is a message of God being abundantly generous with his mercy, grace, and most precious resources. He has sacrificially given us His Son, Jesus, to live, die, and rise from the dead for our forgiveness. In light of this, we believe that when we believe the gospel, we are transformed into people who seek to show the generosity of God. Knowing that all we have belongs to God, we realize that we are called to steward the things we have, and use them to the glory of God. We will do this through sacrificially giving of our finances, time, gifts, and resources. 5) We will be Multiplication-Based Ephesians 4 teaches us that the calling of leaders in the church is to equip the people of the church to do the work of ministry. Therefore it is our passion to build and structure our church in a way that puts multiplication into our church’s very DNA. This means that everything we do as a church will be built and carried out with the intentions of multiplication. The way this plays out is simple: We will structure and pursue to… o Multiply Disciples o Multiply Leaders o Multiply Ministries o Multiply Churches Simply put, we will be built upon the passion to multiply in everything that we do so the body of Christ can be equipped and commissioned to serve Christ in the various aspects of life and ministry. This will be done in a desire to glorify of God and for the furtherance of His kingdom as we seek to fulfill the great commission. 6) We will be WORSHIP-DRIVEN The very name of our church (“Selah”) means, “to lift up” and “to praise.” This is the most pointed purpose that all people were created for. We were all created to be worshipers of the infinite God of creation, through the gospel of Jesus Christ. We will exist as a church to worship Jesus with all of our lives, individually and corporately, to inflame our own joy in the infinite God of creation. We will also labor to spread the worship of Jesus Christ through spreading the gospel, making disciples that make disciples, and planting churches that plant churches, so that all peoples can share in this remarkable and overwhelming joy of knowing Jesus. Therefore, we will be a church driven by a passion to worship him and bring others to do the same, for God's glory and our deepest joy. STRATEGY: 1) To Know Jesus Jesus truly is the most astonishing, breath-taking, and awe-inspiring being in existence. He is God, and is infinitely desirable and worthy of all worship and praise. We know that in light of this, we find our greatest joy in knowing Him personally, through the gospel. Because of this, we make it our aim to be a church that seeks to know this Jesus more, together, as we meet weekly for public worship. We will also pursue this goal of knowing Him more by meeting weekly in the more intimate setting of gospel-community groups. As we do this we will fellowship, study the word together, pray for each other, and love and serve each other for the glory of God and our deepest joy. 2) To Make Jesus Known Knowing the immeasurable greatness and beauty of Jesus, we long not only to increase our Joy by knowing Him personally through faith in the gospel, but will also seek to live our everyday lives with gospel-intentionality, to make Him known to others so that they can experience this unspeakable joy as well. We will seek to make Jesus known by living to show the gospel by purposefully seeking ways to love and sacrificially serve our neighbors and our city. We will also seek to make Him known expressly by sharing and spreading the message of the gospel with those around us, so that by faith, they can enter into an eternal relationship with Him.
